DPW Announces New Leaf Collection Equipment
The Village is excited to announce that we have accepted delivery of our new Titan Leaf Sucker. It is similar to the older unit and will tow behind our #12 Brush truck. A few facts to point out for all residents to get accustomed to:
1. When the leaves are very dry like this week (10/19-/10/23/26) , they are shredded into very small pieces, and some of the residual material will blow out the top of the truck. If the leaves are wet, this won’t be such an issue.
2. Unlike the older machine, we will no longer have 3 crew members raking leaves into the hose. If the machine can’t reach the pile, the residents will have to move the pile down closer to the road.
3. The new machine comfortably reaches 7’ off the edge of the pavement, so please have your entire pile within that 7’ distance.
4. Just like the old machine it will not pick up sticks and other debris that is mixed in….operators are instructed to leave all piles of leaves with brush on top or mixed (hidden) in the piles.
5. This new machine should help us get around the entire Village quicker than before. Please remember it is new to us as well and there will be some kinks to work out.
